A classroom timer the whole room can read

A large full screen countdown timer for a classroom display.

“You have five minutes” works better when the five minutes is on the board. Super Easy Timer puts a large, readable countdown on the classroom display, and starting it takes one line of typing.

Start a timer as fast as you say it

Type “5 min”, press Return, and watch the timer start. A bare number works too: “10” starts a 10 minute timer. When the projector is on and thirty students are waiting, this makes it easy to start that quiz timer.

Big enough for the back row

Take the timer full screen so the countdown fills the display, or keep it large in a corner next to your slides. The digits are made to be read from a distance.

Getting it on the projector is the same as any window: mirror your display, or move the timer to the projector display and go full screen.

Try the free web timer to see the countdown first. The Mac app adds full screen, repeat, and the always visible modes.

Timers for classroom transitions

Quizzes and tests, cleanup, station rotations, silent reading, lining up: timers help you keep students on track. Turn on repeat with a delay for activities that rotate every five minutes, and use the flash at zero so the end of an activity is visible even when the room is loud.

Give every student the same slot

Student presentations are a rotation too. Use Tabata as a presentation timer: set work to 5 minutes for the talk, rest to 3 minutes for questions, and set rounds to the number of students. The hard stop at the end of each slot is automatic and the same for everyone. Pause between students when the class needs a minute, then resume, and the schedule keeps itself.

Count up when the class runs over

Turn on count up after zero and the timer shows how far past the limit the discussion went. You learn how long activities really take when you are managing a full class of students.

No accounts, no ads, no clutter. Just the time, large enough for everyone to see it.
