An egg timer for your Mac

If your Mac lives on the kitchen counter, it is already a better egg timer than the twisty one in the drawer. Type “7 min”, press Return, and get back to the stove.

Faster than finding your phone

Wet hands, something on the burner, and a recipe that says “simmer for 12 minutes.” Type “12” on the keyboard and the countdown is running. A bare number means minutes, so soft-boiled is “6”, hard-boiled is “10”.

An alarm you will hear over the fan

Pick an alarm sound and set it to repeat until you come back. The timer can flash too, so even with the range hood roaring you catch it from across the kitchen. No more discovering the timer went off four minutes ago.

See it from the counter

Make the digits large, or send the timer full screen so the countdown reads from anywhere in the kitchen. Glance over from the cutting board and know exactly where the eggs are.

Pasta after the eggs? Type the next time and press Return. Need to hold something warm in intervals? A repeat timer with a delay checks in every few minutes so you remember to stir.
